The goal remains "completion of the project within the expected timeframe." Work on the reconstruction of the operating theater at the Businco hospital, which is part of Brotzu, is entering its decisive phase.

Arnas announced that "the foundations and load-bearing above-ground floor of the new facility are nearing completion. During May, work focused primarily underground, both in the bunker that housed the old radiotherapy facility from the 1960s and 1970s, and in the surrounding external areas, undergoing demolition and excavation work necessary for the construction of the elevated lateral structures."

In the coming days , "the reinforced concrete pouring is planned to reinforce and stabilize the load-bearing floor slab on which the new three-story central body will be built. The structure will be composed of pillars, beams, and prefabricated elements currently being manufactured by a specialized company in the Veneto region."

The assembly of the prefabricated components, according to Arnas, "will begin in June and will be divided into four successive phases, each lasting seven days, to meet the timeline imposed by the PNRR funding. At the same time, the lateral bodies and elevator shafts, made of cast-in-place reinforced concrete, will be built around the central core."

According to the timeline for the subsequent project, funded by regional funds, "the installation of the high-tech systems and equipment for the new operating rooms must be completed by December 2026. The consortium of companies involved in the project and the design team faced challenges related to the complexity of the existing underground structures and the need to operate in maximum safety conditions, factors that inevitably led to an extension of the preliminary activities."

Numerous Sardinian and Italian companies are working on the project, coordinated by the “Ciro Menotti” Consortium of Ravenna.
