But when a master, an old master, leaves, this emotion is even more intense because the master was, and is, a rarer and almost more mysterious figure».

These are the words that the mayor of Bonorva, Massimo D'Agostino, wanted to dedicate to one of the illustrious figures of Bonorva, who passed away today: the maestro Salvatore Sanna .

Extraordinary figure of educator from the immediate post-war period to the present day, in 1956 he organized the so-called "Flying Sections" of the elementary schools, traveling every day, for years, between the various hamlets, Rebeccu, Monte Cujaru but above all Oddorai.

«An " emergency room for illiteracy " which was rampant at the time, and constituted a very important problem in a country where few knew how to read and write - continues the mayor in his memory -. It was not a simple undertaking and I still remember the passion and emotion that shone in his eyes when he told me about these events, and I can therefore only imagine the logistical difficulties it took to set up schools in these places, considering that everything was made from scratch and in an environmental context that is not always favourable».

«Classes of 3 or 4 children were set up, sometimes more, and for several years this was the only school those children could afford before starting work while, for some other lucky ones, a few, it was the unexpected springboard launch that allowed him to access subsequent study paths - concludes D'Agostino -. A gentleman and cultured, but always ready for a joke, he was then the protagonist of our school for another 35 years».
