The municipality of Bono is increasingly plastic-free following a waste collection effort led by a team of volunteers committed to environmental protection and urban cleanup. The environmental awareness campaign launched on May 14th with Plastic Free concluded yesterday, with great enthusiasm. This project involved students, teachers, institutions, and volunteers in an important experience of active citizenship. The protagonists of the day were students from two fifth-grade elementary school classes and two first-grade middle school classes from the Bono Comprehensive Institute, who participated in the cleanup in the Bialada woods and square, along the Piazza Trieste route, and in the elementary school woods.

With commitment, attention, and a strong sense of civic duty, the students collected and properly separated approximately 50 kg of waste, including plastic, unsorted waste, and bulky materials. Particularly significant was the collection of cigarette butts: seeing with their own eyes how much of it accumulates in the streets and public spaces was a real hands-on lesson for the students, helping them understand the environmental impact of an act that is too often overlooked. Teachers Antonio Mugavero, Silvana Pinna, Antonella Pecoraro, Piera Gaggioli, Sistina Salis, Giovanna Gaias, and Marianna Zedda participated in the collection, and with their helpfulness and educational spirit, they accompanied the students throughout the process, transforming the day into a moment of growth and awareness. This initiative was supported by Councilor for the Environment Antonello Bonu, a constant and concrete presence, always alongside the coordinators and students, demonstrating how collaboration between institutions and citizens is essential to building a more caring and responsible community.

School principal Pierpaolo Pinna and his assistant, Eliana Lisai, believed in the educational value of the initiative and ensured, with professionalism and availability, all the necessary organization for its implementation. Mayor Michele Solinas also believed in this initiative and the collaboration with Plastic Free from the beginning, supporting a project that successfully engaged the school, institutions, and citizens in a common goal: building a community increasingly aware and attentive to protecting its environment. Also present were Sassari representative Fabrizio Caggiari and volunteer Adriana Sanna for their support, commitment, and constant presence, guiding the students with enthusiasm and instilling in them values that go beyond a simple collection day.
