The program is complete, the guests are just waiting to perform. In Bolotana the anticipation is growing for an event with an international scope, the Folk Festival, now in its 32nd edition. From 18 to 20 July the town of Marghine will come alive, thanks to three evenings full of ideas and initiatives. The participation of groups arriving from Brazil, Colombia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Venezuela, Benin and Martinique is also expected. The icebreaker, however, will be the hostess Maria Giovanna Cherchi, one of the most popular voices on the island, on Thursday from 10pm.

Internationality

The event promoted by the cultural and folkloric association Ortachis aims to welcome and make the heart of Sardinia communicate with the rest of the world. In fact, there are seven countries that will participate in the "feast of peoples and traditions". Each with its own clothes, its own dances, its own sounds. About a hundred participants will reach Bolotana, revealing different roots and cultures. They will give rise to an unexpected fusion, an enriching twinning. Friday 19th, starting from 10.15pm, the scene will be for the groups from Venezuela, Benin and Serbia. On Saturday 20th, at the same time, there will then be space for Martinique, Bulgaria, Brazil and Colombia. Evening performances in Piazza del Popolo, but not only. The last day, from 7pm, will also feature a parade of groups along the main street of the town.

Folk and inclusion

Bolotana aims to welcome. Through ancient dances and heartfelt traditions he wants to send virtuous messages. «This year the title of the event is “Bolotana embraces the world”», underlines the president of the Ortachis association, Antonello Zolo. «I don't think many words are needed to explain its meaning. Just look at the logo created by the Macomerese artist Barbara Pala: it depicts our planet surrounded by an accordion and ornaments typical of our folk tradition. This union was sealed by a couple wearing the Bolotanese dress." Antonella Pisanu, of the Ortachis association, adds: «We are proud that our Maria Giovanna Cherchi is opening the festival. It had never happened before. Thursday evening, after the concert, there will be dancing in the square with the Nuoro artist Carlo Boeddu." However, starting from Friday, a hymn to welcome and inclusion will be raised. International guests aside, the evening of the 19th will be enriched by the folk groups "Tradissiones populares" by Silanus, "Valenza" by Nuragus and by the diatonic accordion of Gabriele Solinas. The last evening, Saturday, will see other island artists on stage: folk group "Santu Predu" from Nuoro, Tenores "Su Connottu" from Fonni, Boes and Merdules from Ottana, drummers and trumpeters from Sartiglia from Oristano. The grand finale of the Bolotana Folk Festival will be entrusted to Danyjeey and the hits of the Roman rapper Icy Subzero. The evenings will be presented by Daniela Astara.
