It is a dramatic balance that emerges from the data released by Istat on accidents in Sardinia. In 2022, one hundred people died along the roads of the island , with a robust increase compared to 2021: between the two years, in fact, there was a sad +9.9% in the number of victims.

Although deaths along the roads are decreasing from decade to decade, Sardinia continues to maintain a rather high mortality rate, with a lower decline in crosses compared to that of the rest of Italy.

The most unfortunate arteries are the state road 389, Nuoro-Lanusei, and the 129, Nuoro-Macomer . In 2022, in fact, four people died on each of these streets, with very high mortality rates (the number of victims per 100 accidents): 28.6% on the 389 and 14.8% on the 129.

Many crosses also on the Orientale Sarda (the 125) and the 126, Oristano-Iglesias : in both, three deaths and an index of 25%. Most of the victims, as statistically probable, between the municipalities of Cagliari and Sassari (eight and five respectively).

In total, however, the number of accidents amounts to 3313 , with 4557 people injured: the majority occurred on urban roads, where however fewer people died, 31. The most serious ones, naturally, on extra-urban roads, with 5 deaths each 100 claims.
