Failure to renew the contract, inadequate resources, wage levels too low for the cost of living . These are some of the reasons why local public transport workers are striking tomorrow, Friday 8 November, also in Sardinia.

The 24-hour stop will take place "with reduced performance only in the guarantee bands that protect the mobility of travellers, with the use of 30% of travelling personnel".

The unions explain that "the absolutely essential services for the general public, such as connections to ports and airports, as well as specialized services of particular social relevance, such as transport for the disabled and school buses for nursery and primary schools, are guaranteed."

In Cagliari, bus service is only partially guaranteed in three time slots: from 7:30 to 9:30, from 12:45 to 14:45 and from 18:30 to 20:30.

Meanwhile, a delegation from Fit Cisl Sardegna will be in Rome tomorrow to demonstrate in front of the Ministry of Transport . "For the third time in a few months - underlines the regional secretary Alessandro Russu - we are forced to strike, to demand dignity for the sector. For years we have been waiting for a reform of local public transport, adequate and certain resources, the possibility of reconciling life and work times. In addition, we now register attacks on staff on a daily basis and we are still waiting for the safety protocol signed with the Ministries of the Interior and Transport to become operational in all the provinces".
