Bitterness and disorientation. These are the feelings that Monsignor Corrado Melis , bishop of Ozieri, is experiencing after the conviction of Cardinal Angelo Becciu : «I feel with immense suffering that I am not alone», he writes in an open letter, «I perceive your fatigue, your questions and the tangle of feelings that inhabit your hearts. I can confess to you that they are not very far from mine."

So Melis continues explaining his feelings: «I find myself being a father but without a crust of bread to bring home. I wonder what was, what we are and what we will be. In these hours, the awareness of feeling loved by the Church and the din of many loud questions seeking peace coexist . If only to have an answer to give or a path to face together."

Then the bishop continues: «I am really in difficulty and with extreme humility I lay myself bare by confessing to you: I don't understand. I could fix myself with phrases of circumstance or well-established ecclesiastical rhetoric schemes such as: it is the hour of darkness, faith will bring comfort, sooner or later serenity will return. I could also show off the word of God. But, believe me, I am truly astonished and struck dumb by such harshness ."
