The water war explodes in Baronia. The mayor of Siniscola Gian Luigi Farris called the police and chased away the Abbanoa workers who were carrying out excavations to divert the little water destined for the town towards Budoni .

An episode, the one that occurred yesterday, which tells a lot about the tension that can be felt in an increasingly thirsty area, in which the water crisis is becoming increasingly severe as the tourist season comes into full swing.

«Enough teasing, I'm ready to give back the armband, here we risk a revolt» thunders Farris, furious.

The mayor recounted the episode in a long post on Facebook. «I saw a very strange thing in the Cocorra district. Two excavators intent on removing the road surface at a time that usually sees the workers taking off for a well-deserved rest. I didn't see any faults in that area, so I asked for clarification but the answers were unclear and not at all satisfactory."

An alarm bell seemed to have gone off in Farris, the mayor knows well that the pipelines pass underneath that from the Fruncu and Oche springs which convey the water towards Siniscola and other nearby towns . «Unfortunately I was right, the company had received orders from Abbanoa to divert the water, what remains of our water, to some nearby municipality ».

The mayor then contacted the local police, who ordered the works to be stopped due to lack of authorizations and ordered the workers to take away the vehicles. «But after half an hour, a little bird called me and told me that the excavations had resumed. At that point I proceeded to block everything formally and definitively, reserving the right to proceed through legal channels and inform the press and TV ."

The mayor of Siniscola is furious and also fears a revolt: «What I discovered yesterday is an attempted theft of an asset which is particularly precious and in short supply these days . Yesterday, a public body thought of digging in our territory without informing the authorities, all for the benefit of another municipality, but it went badly . The works were stopped in time."

Farris recalls that 80% of the water is already channeled to other municipalities . «It is becoming a war between the poor. They also wanted to steal the remaining 20% from us so that other administrations can make themselves look good at their expense. I'm not in it, and it doesn't end here." And now he no longer trusts: "I'm having the police guard the area."
