Few workforce and lack of psychiatric facilities. These are two big problems that "characterize life in Sardinian prisons" and are making a comeback after "the recent attacks suffered by prison police officers in Isili and Uta". The reflection is by the Attorney General of Cagliari, Luigi Patronaggio.

"The shortage of personnel, and especially of the top figures of the directors and commanders of prison institutions, has been denounced several times by the unions and it is hoped that it can be partially alleviated with the entry into service of the new prison administration officials" , argues the magistrate.
However, he considers "the solution of the problem of psychiatric assistance within penitentiary institutions to be more complex". Patronaggio recalls that he promoted two working tables, chaired by the regional health councilor Carlo Doria, which was attended by representatives of the local health authorities, the Dap, the directors of prisons and representatives of various trade unions.

«The tables», underlines Patronaggio, «have certified undeniable shortcomings and delays and a deficit of the professional figures of psychiatric doctors. An attempt has been made to rationalize resources and solutions have been sought with good will, which are still being perfected».
Pending a path, tortuous and not easy to solve, "however, my esteem and solidarity reach the prison police and all prison workers for the fulfillment of a duty that must be carried out in an atmosphere of serenity and in complete safety" .
