«The safety of Ittiri 's doctors, nurses and emergency room personnel must be guaranteed by the competent authorities. But first of all I want to express, on behalf of all the Ittiresi, great solidarity with the doctor and the security guard brutally attacked ». These are today's first words from Mayor Antonio Sau on Friday evening's attack on emergency room doctor Emanuela Sanna and the security guard on duty. The two decided not to open up to a criminal offender and drug addict from Ittiri, who came to the emergency room for pain in his leg, which had already been treated several times by the doctor, and who would only need a general practitioner.

The doctor, given the aggressive attitude shown several times towards her, did not open up to the man. Who turned into a fury, throwing stones at the window, hurling against an iron bench and threatening the two with death several times.

«Fortunately, the Carabinieri of Ittiri intervened promptly - explains Sau -. Therefore, a great applause goes to them for the professionalism shown».

The attacker was released from a nursing facility in January. He is therefore a person with evident psychiatric problems, who with the carabinieri present was also treated by the same doctor from the injuries sustained with the glass while trying to force entry, perhaps he would need to be hospitalized in a protected facility. «This is a solution that must be supported by health certifications - replies the mayor -. But first we need to verify the provisions of the judicial authority ».

Ittiri's is the latest example of the attacks that emergency room personnel often fall victim to. Also Sardinian. A situation denounced several times (even recently) by the president of the order of doctors of Sassari Nicola Addis:
