Stop hospitalizations and scheduled surgeries in Brotzu facilities for March 21, with patients who will have to wait for a new date . The reason, as explained by the hospital company itself in a press release, is linked to the regional competition for nurses announced for the same day, in which numerous employees will participate. The decision was contested by the Usb Sanità union, which defines it as " unacceptable ". As explained by the hospital company, next Friday "all hospitalization activities and scheduled surgical interventions will have to be postponed, in order to avoid inconvenience and delays in clinical activities, with potential disruptions and medical-legal disputes". However, "all emergency and urgent activities" will be guaranteed.

"This unacceptable situation", comments Gianfranco Angioni, company representative of Usb Sanità, "can not only compromise the health of patients; in fact, given the long waits, we ask ourselves when these surgical interventions will be recovered , but it also highlights, in addition to the responsibilities, serious shortcomings in the organizational and health policies of the main health center in Sardinia".

For Angioni, the postponement is " a clear symptom of a systemic crisis ", with " the flight of health personnel from the Arnas Brotzu hospital ". A situation that, according to the union, could be resolved by implementing "the organic endowments of all professional figures, recognizing competitive economic benefits, guaranteeing safety and cyclically activating internal mobility, promoting discussion tables with the staff to listen to their needs and proposals, creating a climate of trust and collaboration".
