Rescued in 2022, Asanya returned to her sea yesterday.

Found in January two years ago off the beach of Marinella, rescued and treated at the Sinis Recovery Centre (CReS), the caretta caretta was released off the coast of Porto Rotondo, near the islet of Soffi, after being adopted by the 50-metre yacht Asani, flying the Cayman Island flag, which financed the satellite device for the subsequent tracking of the sea turtle.

The release of Asanya, coordinated by the Regional Network for the Conservation of Marine Fauna in Distress, is the result of collaboration between the Tavolara Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area and Nautica Assistance which, through the Ocean Lovers project, aim to raise environmental awareness in the world of yachting that sails our seas.

The Maritime Directorate of Northern Sardinia, the Coast Guard, the marinas of Porto Rotondo and Cala dei Sardi, with the support of the CNR, also participated in the release of Asanya.
