Sofia Maria Vasiliu, a trusted friend of Michele Fresi, the 28-year-old on trial for the murder of his father Giovanni , a goldsmith from Arzachena, which occurred on the night between 27 and 28 December 2023, told the story in the courtroom of the Assize Court of Sassari.

"I tried to calm him down," recalls the woman, also a victim of the man's fury. " The last memory I have is him approaching me. Then nothing. I woke up alone at home, bleeding, I went out and called 118. "

Vasiliu is alive by a miracle, she had been hit in the face, suffering three fractures . With a flurry of punches or with the baseball bat that Fresi then used to kill her father. After the testimony of the woman, who answered the questions of the prosecutor Claudia Manconi and the civil lawyers Massimo Schirò and Jacopo Merlini, it was the turn of the coroner Salvatore Lorenzoni, who performed the autopsy on the body of the 58-year-old .

Giovanni Fresi, he said, was hit four times in the head with the baseball bat. He tried to defend himself and parry the blows, as shown by the fractures to his left arm and forearm . But he was hit by a first blow to the head, in the back left part. This was the blow that knocked him out, then, once he collapsed on the ground defenseless, he was hit three more times, always in the head. He died shortly after in the hospital , the man had intervened to calm his son down, as had already happened numerous other times.

Michele Fresi was also present in the courtroom and remained standing the entire time, arms folded and head bowed .

In February, the hearings will continue with the testimony of the civil parties and the defense attorney of the 28-year-old, Pierfranco Tirotto.
