Arson in Serrenti, a pensioner caught in the act

A 79-year-old from Serrenti , retired, was arrested red-handed by the Forestry Corps for arson .

The man was surprised by the investigators of the Cagliari Territorial Service while he was burning the stake in the Serrenti countryside.

Around 5 pm yesterday, some phone calls arrived to the emergency number 1515 : a person was reported to have been seen lighting the flames. The investigative team intervened on the spot and acquired the evidence against the suspect.

The fire, which affected an area of about 3,000 square meters , was contained thanks to the presence of fire extinguishing teams from the Forestry Corps and volunteers.

The pensioner was placed under house arrest .
