Various uncensored objects of archaeological interest were confiscated by the agents of the Quartu Sant'Elena police station from a Quartese collector who was a fisherman.

The search took place two nights ago and involved in particular 4 amphorae measuring 110/120 centimeters, 4 jugs, 5 bowls, a vase and a pot.

The assets, of absolute historical value, were preliminarily subjected to scrutiny by the Archaeological, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendence for the Metropolitan Area of the City of Cagliari, and would date back to the 4th century AD, of Greek-Roman manufacture.

Although not intended for sale, if placed on the black market they could have yielded around 200,000 euros.

Further investigations are underway to try to identify the origin of the objects which, as the police explain, were certainly recovered in marine areas currently unknown.

The Archaeological, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendence has been appointed by the judicial authority to assess the historical and artistic value of the assets.

The collector, with a clean record, is under investigation for receiving stolen goods and for possession of cultural assets of historical interest belonging to the State.
