The prolonged immersion terrified the mother, who, not seeing her sixteen-year-old son return after an hour in the water, asked for help from the Arbatax Coast Guard.

The incident occurred in the early afternoon. The young man, of German nationality, had dived into the crystalline waters of Cala Moresca. The mother became worried when she lost eye contact with her son.

The apprehension was growing and at that point the lady contacted the operations center of the Circomare in via Tirreno which, under the coordination of the 13th MRSC of Cagliari, ordered the intervention in the area of the patrol boat CP 811 at sea and a patrol from land to better limit the search area. Arriving on site, the personnel of the patrol boat immediately proceeded to locate the swimmer who appeared to be in good conditions in the stretch of sea further south of the cove. Afterwards the patrol boat escorted the boy back to the coast by swimming, reassuring his mother on shore.
