Corrado Sorrentino has completed the Ogliastra stage of his charity event. At 12.15 today he arrived on the Capannina beach, after 3 kilometers of swimming, welcomed by the applause of the bathers.

Although the sea conditions were not optimal, with a northern breeze rippling the waves, the crossing was completed on schedule. The former swimming champion and coach arrived from Lotzorai, after the charity crossing that is part of the Giro di Sardegna 2.0 event, a charity project whose beneficiary is Amelia Sorrentino, an association founded in memory of her daughter who died in 2018 at the age of 7 years due to a rare disease. Last year Sorrentino, 48, from Cagliari, swam around the island, always with the mission of raising funds for hospitals. The charitable objective of the initiative is to finance, through Amelia, the university hospital of Sassari by providing a high-end ultrasound system to the Sassari pediatrics and to equip the short-term intensive observation of the pediatric emergency room of the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari with an additional four multi-parameter monitors .

Waiting for him on the western beach were several friends of the swimmer and, representing the Municipality of Tortolì which sponsored the event, the councilor with responsibility for the Environment, Riccardo Falchi. Many commercial activities, associations and individuals who, for various reasons, did their utmost to make the event a success. Among these also Daniel dj, born Daniel Pessiu, a 12-year-old artist from Tortolì who enlivened the morning on the beach with his console.
