The ban on air transport expires tomorrow, September 29, and will be entrusted with an emergency procedure after the extension of the public service obligations by the ministry. The main changes are two: there will be fewer flights (also because the winter season begins) and the rates will be differentiated between residents, workers traveling to and from Sardinia and non-residents on the island.

The release was expected by many, given that from 15 October Sardinia risked being isolated on the air transport front due to the farewell to Alitalia's flight activities - which has in hand the current management of connections between the airports of Alghero, Cagliari and Olbia and the hubs of Rome and Milan Linate - and the departure of Ita which, however, cannot take over tout court.

The invitation to submit offers for the individual routes had been sent by the Region to 11 carriers - including low cost airlines - and tomorrow we will know if the airlines are interested in traveling from 15 October to 14 May, pending the new biennial announcement that has yet to be prepared.

The tender - for the seven months in question - is worth 37 million euros, the tender for two years 46 million per year gross of the auction base. The maximum discounted rate (without restrictions, even in case of flight changes and without quota of available seats) to be applied to residents of Sardinia (excluding airport taxes) for Rome from the three Sardinian airports is 39 euros one way, while it is 47 for the routes to and from Milan Linate. Equalized to Sardinian residents the disabled, university students up to the age of 27, young people from 2 to 21 years, the elderly over 70 years.

The concessions apply, but only for the winter season, also to workers who must justify the reason for the flight by submitting a substitutive declaration of deed of notoriety. Residents are also guaranteed the possibility to check in hand baggage and one in the hold weighing no more than 23 kilos for free.

For each leg of the indicated routes, a reserve of 2 seats must be guaranteed every day on the first flight in the morning, departing from Sardinia, and on the last flight of the evening, returning to the island, to be used for urgent problems of a nature. medical-health.
