The room vibrates with different voices, languages and songs, while the hopes of many intertwine in a single, profound message: hospitality as a bridge between cultures.

This is the atmosphere of the Christmas meeting between the Archbishop of Cagliari, Giuseppe Baturi, and the migrant communities of the diocese, organized by Migrantes and Caritas. An event that, for five years, has transformed the exchange of greetings into a moment of sharing and integration.
Over forty representatives, coming from different countries, gathered in the Aula Magna of the Archbishop's Curia. "We are pilgrims in search of peace and justice," said Baturi, emphasizing how the Church is a traveling companion for those fleeing from war, poverty and injustice.
There is Vicky, from the Pakistani community, who tells with dignity the drama of those who left everything behind to escape hunger and terrorism. There is Mohamed, who arrived from Palestine, who is moved by the mere question about Gaza and turns his gaze to the sky. Then there is the Ukrainian community, who moves with their songs and a living nativity scene steeped in tradition. Ivan, at the piano, plays notes that overcome all borders.
Symbolic gestures were not lacking. The archbishop gave those present a Tau in olive wood, a sign of peace and unity, while the little ones received sweets and candies. "These moments of meeting - added deacon Enrico Porru, president of Migrantes - create spaces of trust, comfort and inclusion for those who find themselves rebuilding their lives far from home".
Alongside the Church, the Municipality of Cagliari also renews its commitment. "Diversity is a wealth - said the councilor for social policies Anna Puddu - together we can build a stronger and more welcoming community".
