«Go on holiday to Sardinia this summer».

The advice comes from the columns of the Washington Post , one of the most authoritative US newspapers in the world, which – in an article by reporter Natalie B. Porter – has included the island among the perfect destinations to choose for next summer.

The WP starts from a consideration: «Sector experts predict that summer 2023 will be the busiest at airports in decades » and «we know that people will travel en masse». So, the question arises: are there ideal destinations to avoid the super-crowd?

Hence a series of interviews with experts in the travel sector, accompanied by the list of the "nine least crowded summer holiday destinations".

Sardinia - writes the Washington Post - is the ideal destination for those who, from the USA, choose to enjoy a holiday in Italy.

«Instead of Rome and Amalfi, try Turin and Sardinia», the newspaper suggests to readers.

Italy, the article reads, "is (again) on track to be one of the most popular destinations for Americans this summer." For this, explains Marco Amorico, president of the luxury travel company Access Italy, questioned by the newspaper, «expect that Rome, Florence and the Amalfi Coast will be full or even sold out».

"Fortunately - adds the Washington Post - there are many other beautiful regions to explore that do not arrive with the same swarms of tourists ". Therefore we recommend Turin, «one of the best “second cities” in Italy», instead of Rome, and Sardinia «instead of the Amalfi Coast and Portofino».
