Alongside the "forgotten" children and the last ones, the story of Domus de Luna told to the students of Tortolì
The idea had developed since high school, then an adoption led to realizing the dream of doing something usefulAs a manager for an important IT company, in 2005 he took a sabbatical and with his wife they decided to create a project to help abandoned children, young people at risk and vulnerable people.
«When we talked about the project, people told us: you want the moon», says Ugo Bressanello, president of the Domus de Luna shelter in Cagliari. And this is where the name comes from and the gap year now lasts almost twenty years. This beautiful reality was told during the training meeting on the family organized by Don Evangelista Tolu as part of the Church&School project. The students of the Iti campus were in the audience, the meeting was moderated by the doctor Luigi Arru, and the councilor for social policies Irene Murru spoke. The idea had developed with his wife since high school, then the adoption of a son pushed them to realize the dream of doing something useful.
From Casa delle Stelle, a safe haven for children, the first Domus de Luna project has multiplied over the years and today boasts over 200 employees and many volunteers. It has a listening center and four reception communities: for mothers, teenagers and children, often victims of serious neglect, mistreatment and abuse. They were recently entrusted with a house in Cardedu seized from organized crime: it will become a safe place for those in difficulty. Domus de Luna is many different things. Innovative social interventions that arise as a concrete response to humanitarian problems and emergencies.
It is a social enterprise with the Buoni e Cattivi cooperative which has three restaurants recognized and appreciated by the most prestigious guides and magazines in the sector. Managed by 70 kids with a difficult past who have redeemed themselves. Then the deer oasis in the WWF reserve of Monte Arcosu, the "very social" farm. Witness to this precious reality was Michela who in a video interview recounted her experience in the shelter and how it positively changed her life.
