Acquitted of the crime of defamation today in court in Sassari. Maurizio Pirisi and Roberto Trova were accused of having offended, in 2021, the reputation of the then minority municipal councilor in Alghero Valdo Di Nolfo, now a regional councilor.
The two, exponents of the majority, had instead issued a press release in which they responded to the offended person after Di Nolfo had expressed strong criticism on the state of the entrance to the service of the Diabetology department of the hospital in the Catalan city.
Pirisi and Trova had written, in reply, sentences in which they asserted among other things: «Di Nolfo was only capable of speaking and never of doing … who makes lying his communication style».
According to the prosecutor Alessia Sanna, the defendants, defended by the lawyers Barbara Pirisi and Sebastiano Chironi, should have been acquitted due to the exemption of article 51 of the penal code. Judge Elena Barmina instead ordered the acquittal because the fact does not constitute a crime.
