Alghero, tragedy at Riservato: dead among the rocks, fatal fall

Drama in the night on the Dante seafront in Alghero, on the Riservato cliff.

Gavino Pirisino, 80 years old, drowned and was found lying between the water and the rocks, around 11pm yesterday, April 19, Easter Eve.

On site were the 118 operators and the officers of the Alghero police station.  

It seems that the man had gone there to collect some sea water that he would use for cooking . Perhaps in an attempt to reach a pool he slipped between the rocks of the Riservato, falling into the sea or, again, he was the victim of a sudden illness.

What is certain, unfortunately, is that the rescue efforts were useless and the ambulance had to leave with the sirens off. The Police were on site.
