The Alghero City Council unanimously approved the motion presented by Councilor and Chair of the Health Commission, Christian Mulas, and endorsed by several council groups, on the topic of bullying and cyberbullying.
After the document was presented, a broad debate began, with both the majority and the opposition aligned on the same front: the need for joint action to stop an increasingly alarming social phenomenon .

Mulas recalled the tragic story of Paolo Mendico, the 14-year-old who took his own life on September 11 after being bullied. "A child who chooses to die instead of thinking about the future," he said, "is a sign that society cannot ignore." The councilor emphasized how cases are increasing throughout Italy, with a particular incidence in Sardinia among 13- to 19-year-olds.

During the debate, Mulas proposed launching the "A Friend Forever" project in Alghero , coordinated by the municipal administration through the Department of Youth Policies and Education. The initiative includes the creation of a magazine dedicated to bullying and cyberbullying , aimed at students and teachers, to inform, educate, and provide useful tools for recognizing and preventing the problem.

"A project of great educational and social value," Mulas concluded, "because bullying destroys not only the victims, but the entire community."
