The hot Barbagia August is closing on a wave of jazz, with training, meetings and live programming: after a weekend packed with events, the second week of the thirty-eighth edition of Nuoro Jazz now begins, with the continuation of the Seminars curated by the city's Music Institute at the Civic School in Via Tolmino – to which, from yesterday to Wednesday , the international masterclass by Canadian saxophonist and composer Seamus Blake was added – and with new concerts coming up, after the live performances on Monday with Frenchman Noé Clerc and Mariano Tedde 's quartet .

Today is a busy evening, with the Multiform Trio opening the dances at the Man Museum at 6:30 pm : led by Silvia Corda (piano and toy piano) – alongside whom Adriano Orrù (double bass) and Roberto Migoni (drums and percussion) perform – the Cagliari-based group looks at sounds of multiple forms, developed through unpublished compositions, free improvisation and personal reinterpretations of great authors of the past, such as Ornette Coleman, and new voices such as Steve Lacy.

At 9 pm, the international sextet Mosaïc returns to the Satta Library Garden , bringing back Noé Clerc to the stage along with his compatriot Adèle Viret (cello), Bulgarian Georgi Dobrev (kaval), Portuguese musicians Zé Almeida (double bass) and Diogo Alexandre (drums), and Tunisian Hamdi Jammoussi (percussion). Born within the context of the Medinea project (Mediterranean Incubator of Emerging Artists), the ensemble focuses on intercultural dialogue, moving between jazz, chamber music, Mediterranean and Balkan music, and traditional North African rhythms . Their studio debut, " Unfolding Tiles ," was released in 2026 on the Belgian label Fuga Libera and will be presented in Nuoro.

A final show is scheduled at Killtime on Via Mereu for 11 pm , with " Errori di Deprogrammazione " by guitarist Antonio Floris and his quartet , made up of Vittorio Solimene (piano), Gabriele Pagliano (double bass) and Cesare Mangiocavallo (drums). Active as a group since 2022, the four musicians will perform their album of the same name, released last year on Wow Records , live in a jazz-tinged reflection with a harmonious and melodic flavour .

The date on Wednesday 26th is also crowded, starting from Man already at 11am for the trio from across the Alps Triumviret , which brings together the famous double bass player Jean-Philippe Viret together with his children Adèle , on cello, and Oscar , on trumpet: a group born from a family where music, composition and improvisation have always been fertile ground for sharing, and in which the three move without any hierarchies, in a constant exchange of timbres, ideas and sensibilities .

We'll remain at the Nuoro Museum for Pier Piras ' solo concert, on stage at 6:30 pm with the repertoire from his second album " Eolo ", where the protagonist is the acoustic bass which, in the hands of the musician from Sassari, becomes rhythm, harmony and melody in the forging of original soundscapes . A personal research in motion between jazz, folklore and cinematic suggestions, which officially started with the previous " A Wizard's Perspective " (2022).

In the evening, to mark the conclusion of the masterclass he directed, Blake himself will take the helm at 9 pm and take the stage at the Giardino with pianist Alessandro Lanzoni . This partnership was formed during the pandemic, when the two met remotely in a series of livestreamed sessions, and gave rise to the album " From Angels ," subsequently recorded in the studio and released in June 2024. The resulting album combines reinterpretations of standards and original compositions, focusing on the intimate and sophisticated dialogue between tenor saxophone and piano , performed by two acclaimed contemporary jazz performers in one of the most anticipated events of this edition.

The review continues on Thursday 28th with two final events, before the grand finale the following day with teachers and students of the 2026 Seminars together for the concert " Nei luoghi di Grazia Deledda ": the last to perform at 6.30 pm in the Man spaces is therefore Nugara Trio , a formation between traditional jazz and classical and rock influences , created by the winners of the Nuoro Jazz 2021 scholarships Viden Spassov (double bass) and Francesco Parsi (drums), with the original pianist Francesco Negri replaced by Simone Locarni . Together they present the album " The Last Question " (2025), anticipating the following performance of " Intarsi " at 9 pm in the Library Garden , also performed by the deserving former students of Nuoro Jazz 2025 Zoe Passarini and Denise Cambiaghi (vocals), Caterina Graniti (saxophone and vocals), Christian Guidolin (double bass), Samuele Donadio (piano) and Alessio Cogotti (drums), who return to play together for a live show entitled " Human Clorophilia ".
