A tourist in her seventh month of pregnancy was saved today when she presented herself urgently to the Emergency Room of the civil hospital in Alghero due to a serious placental abruption.

The critical conditions of the woman and the fetus required immediate, rapid and highly complex intervention. Thanks to the professionalism of the healthcare personnel - doctors from the Emergency Room, anesthetists and specialists from the Obstetrics and Gynecology department - it was possible to act in a very short time, saving the mother and delivering the baby in safe conditions. The perfect synergy between the departments involved made it possible to avoid tragic outcomes and to guarantee timely and highly qualified assistance. After giving birth, the newborn was urgently transferred to the Neonatology department of the Sassari Hospital, accompanied by a specialized medical team aboard an equipped ambulance.

"A masterly intervention from every point of view - declared Christian Mulas, President of the Council Commission for Health - which demonstrates the readiness, competence and humanity of our doctors. Alghero can and must be proud of these professionals. I thank the hospital management for the coordination, together with the doctors, the anesthetists and all the health personnel for the commendable work carried out in such a delicate situation".

"Today - Mulas concludes - we can loudly relaunch the request for the reopening of the birth point in Alghero. Our professionals are ready: they have demonstrated it once again with facts".
