Just four days before the October 24 deadline, ITA Airways has reopened flight reservations on the Alghero-Linate route, which it operates on an extended basis—after yet another failed regional tender—until January 31, 2027.
But a "very serious" problem remains, emphasizes Michele Pais, a city councilor for the Lega Nord party in Alghero and president of the regional council: "The discounted rates and conditions required for continuity are not yet available through the online booking system."
The Northern League representative documents the situation by simulating a booking for October 26th: "A return flight on the same day, from Alghero to Milan, is being offered for €260.18, without the territorial continuity benefits being applied on the screen."
Continuity tickets, ITA explained in a statement, can be purchased at travel agencies and through the company's call center. They will be available online "as soon as the necessary technical updates are completed."
Pais, however, emphasizes the inconvenience for travelers: "This isn't a bureaucratic detail. We're talking about essential connections, used daily by workers, students, professionals, and especially by people forced to reach hospitals and treatment centers in Northern Italy," he emphasizes, calling for immediate intervention from the Region, which he blames for the disruption.
"ITA," Pais concludes, "is racing against time to make tickets available continuously. Despite the limited timeframe and the difficulties caused by the Region's errors, it is working to adapt the complex IT booking systems."
