Parents exasperated in Alghero by a persistent lice infestation, which cannot be eradicated in the nursery school attended by their children. A pediculosis that has continued from October 2024 to today and for which urgent prophylaxis measures are requested, with the help of the ASL.

One mother, in particular, reports that her child had nits on his head four times, despite the treatments, and this is because there are families who, in all likelihood, have not properly followed the prophylaxis suggested to eradicate the problem that, punctually, reappears in the heads of the little students.

After having informed the school principal of the emergency (who proceeded to solicit parents, publishing the pediculosis prevention protocol on the school website and on the noticeboard), the mayor Raimondo Cacciotto and the councilor for public education Raffaella Sanna were directly informed of the case to ask them to implement adequate prophylaxis measures, involving the ASL.

"We can't leave everything in the hands of families alone," complains a mother. "The contribution of management, teachers and health personnel is also necessary." In the presence of repeated cases, parents are keen to point out, "the current legislation requires the school principal to order the suspension of attendance of affected subjects until appropriate disinfestation treatment is started." Now there is a push for coordination between the mayor, the public health office and the school, in order to be able to solve the problem once and for all, considering that the invitation to periodically check the heads of their children has not been enough so far.
