It was a night of fire in Alghero, where a fire, likely caused by arson, destroyed the van belonging to the Lime company, owned by Alghero entrepreneurs Marco and Claudio Cassitta, who also own Agua de Mar on the Dante seafront.
The fire, which broke out around 4 a.m., also affected other vehicles parked in the area in front of the Don Bosco field, right at the entrance to the city, where the Doppio Malto business is also located.
Among the damaged vehicles are the van of an Alghero plumber and several cars belonging to local residents. Firefighters and law enforcement officers responded to the scene and are working to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident and determine the origin of the flames.
The incident has rekindled concern in the city, especially in light of other suspicious fires reported in recent days. If the intimidation motive is confirmed, it would be yet another sign of a climate described by many as increasingly tense and alarming.
City Councilor Alberto Bamonti strongly condemned the incident: "I express my sincerest solidarity with Marco and Claudio Cassitta, Riccardo Manca, and all those involved in the serious incident that occurred last night in Alghero. This is a cowardly and despicable act that affects not only workers and families, but the entire Alghero community." For the councilor, "it is essential that institutions, citizens, and local communities remain united in firmly condemning all forms of violence and crime."
