Alghero: Explosion at a downtown restaurant leaves three injured.

There were moments of fear this evening, around 7:30 pm, at the "La Sartoria del Gusto" restaurant in Piazza Duomo in Alghero.

A violent explosion , probably caused by a gas leak , started a fire that completely engulfed the room in a few minutes.

Three people suffered minor injuries in the accident: a waitress, a cook, and a passerby who was hit in the leg by a shard of glass and was rescued by 118 staff.

The firefighters, two ambulances, local police, and Carabinieri also responded to the scene, immediately cordoning off the area. The restaurant was declared unsafe.

The apartments located above the building, fortunately empty at the time of the explosion, will still be inspected by the fire brigade.
