"A social, health and civil heritage risks disappearing in silence if we do not intervene immediately. The ERA association, a point of reference for Civil Protection and voluntary health in Sassari and Alghero, is forced to evaluate the sale of its vehicles and the cessation of activities because the Municipality cannot find a building to place it . It is very serious, we cannot afford it". The alarm was raised by Michele Pais, a city councilor for the League, who appealed directly to the mayor and the council for immediate intervention.
ERA (Emergenza Radio Amatori), a provincial section of Sassari with headquarters in Alghero, has 78 members, 4 affiliated associations and has been working for years in the sectors of civil protection, environmental safety and rescue . «The president Pier Davide Secchi – recalls Pais – has repeatedly contacted the Municipality, without receiving any response. The association, thanks to the commitment of volunteers, guarantees free medical transport, oversees events such as New Year's Eve and the largest sporting events, carries out fire-fighting services, environmental protection, special operations and sea rescue. We cannot leave it alone».
The real risk is that ERA, no longer having a headquarters or a shelter for its vehicles, will have to cease all activity. "We are talking about ambulances and equipment purchased with the personal sacrifices of volunteers, leaving them without support is a defeat for the entire city", asking for urgent intervention. In the meantime, the president of the association has already published a post on social media in which he puts the ambulance and equipment up for sale .
