Several dozen cases of alcohol poisoning occurred across the island—with three young people hospitalized—and a girl was injured in the face by a firecracker in Cagliari. A total of 278 emergency operations were managed by the 118 Emergency Operations Centers in Cagliari and Sassari on New Year's Eve, specifically between 8:00 PM on December 31, 2025, and 7:00 AM on January 1.
Everything worked well in the coordinated health organization in the main cities hosting concerts and events organized on the island.
In Cagliari, the main event, spread across Piazza Yenne, Bastione Santa Croce, and Piazza San Giacomo, included a health plan developed by the Municipality, which the Cagliari 118 Operations Center validated after arranging for the establishment of an Advanced Medical Post and the presence of a coordination center headed by the Cagliari 118 Operations Center through its own operator.
For the occasion, Areus also arranged for increased routine care, ensuring the availability of an advanced nursing vehicle and an additional basic vehicle. During the New Year's Eve event, a total of 11 emergency interventions were managed, along with four visits to the advanced medical station, resulting in two hospitalizations (including the young woman hit in the face by a firecracker). During the night, following the event's conclusion, seven interventions for alcohol abuse were performed, resulting in three hospitalizations.
In Oristano, the organizers had also arranged medical assistance for the main concert. No significant incidents occurred, and only a few interventions for alcohol abuse were carried out by 118 emergency services after the main event.
In southern Sardinia, the Cagliari operations center handled a total of 136 cases, including 15 red, 89 yellow, and 32 green.
On the night of the 31st, the 118 operations center in northern Sardinia handled a total of 142 rescue events between Sassari, Gallura, Nuoro, and Ogliastra, including 54 red, 76 yellow, and 12 green.
In the area of the main concerts, Areus has arranged for an increase in Indian vehicles (with nurses on board) which have handled 7 emergency calls in Sassari, one in Olbia and 2 in Alghero.
All activities were coordinated by the Sassari 118 Emergency Operations Center, which approved the health plans presented by the organizers. In Sassari, the Operations Center also coordinated the activities of the Advanced Medical Post, the two emergency vehicles, and the six basic rescue vehicles provided by the organizers of the Max Pezzali concert. In Olbia, the two advanced rescue vehicles and four basic rescue vehicles provided by the event organizers were coordinated.
15 cases of alcohol poisoning were reported, mostly among very young people.
