Airport merger, a move against all odds: "Deals will be finalized in the coming months."

The process aimed at integrating the (Sardinian) airports has been extended following the Region's declaration of participation in the shareholder structure. The agreements are expected to be finalized in the coming months.
The Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari and Oristano is not stopping. There's a clear delay in the sale of the Cagliari airport to F2i Ligantia, the investment fund that already holds a majority stake in Olbia and Alghero, but no backtracking yet. This should be the case, given the harshly opposed opinions of the Court of Auditors and the Anti-Corruption Authority, above all.
Vote in December
The communication regarding the postponement of the three-way merger is contained in Resolution 2025000064. The Chamber of Commerce Board approved it on December 11, 2025. Its subject is "Periodic rationalization of shareholdings." Essentially, the institution reviewed its shareholding structure, which includes eighteen directly controlled companies alone, including Sogaer, operator of the Mameli airport in Cagliari-Elmas. The Chamber of Commerce confirmed its current 94.4% stake, although upon completion of the merger, this public holding would decrease to 40.5%, to the benefit of F2i Ligantia, which, along with its "internal" shareholders, Fondazione di Sardegna and BlackRock, would become the airport's majority shareholder. The capital increase would be at no cost to F2i; rather than paying the Chamber of Commerce, it would "reimburse" it by entering into the single management system.
