Only two airlines are interested in guaranteeing - from 14 October to 14 May 2022, therefore for seven months - the coverage of flights in territorial continuity to and from Sardinia, after the extension of the service charges imposed by a decree signed by the minister of Giovannini Transport. These are Ita and Volotea. This is what is learned from the Region after opening the envelopes with offers.

In total, twelve envelopes were received, six from Ita and six from Volotea, one for each of the connections between the three airports on the island (Alghero, Cagliari and Olbia) and the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate.

Villa Devoto, as confirmed by the regional councilor for transport Giorgio Todde, had invited 11 carriers, which operate nationally. That is: Ryanair, EasyJet, Volotea, Ita, Blue Air, Vueling, Dat-Danish Air Transport, Blue Panorama, Neos, Air Malta and Wizz Air. To these the company Tayaran Jet was added before the deadline.

According to the emergency call, 37 million euros are available for the seven months of service. In the coming months, however, the new two-year tender worth 46 million euros per year will be held.

The rates between residents and non-residents that must be guaranteed by the carriers, gross of taxes and charges, will be differentiated: residents will spend 39 euros to fly to Rome and 47 euros to and from Milan (there will be no restrictions, even in the case of flight changes, or quotas of available seats). For non-residents, on the other hand, the rates will be fixed on the basis of market prices.
