New campaign of extraordinary checks "house to house" in Olbia after dozens of reports of indiscriminate abandonment of waste and incorrect use of separate waste collection . The local police have started checks and inspections of private individuals and commercial activities.
130 individuals were fined for incorrect disposals and, in some more serious cases (about 10), forms of actual waste abandonment were ascertained, the perpetrators of which, following investigations conducted by the Local Police Command, were identified and reported to the Tempio Public Prosecutor's Office.
The activity began in early September. Commander Giovanni Mannoni explains: «The abandonment of waste has become part of the list of crimes regulated by the consolidated text of the Environment, therefore, within the scope of the inspection functions aimed at environmental protection carried out daily by the Environmental Police Unit, in all cases of abandonment carried out by companies, but also for those carried out by private individuals, an investigation is opened following which a communication of the crime arises to the Public Prosecutor's Office».
