Operations by the Carabinieri of the Cagliari Provincial Command continue against illegal dumping and unauthorized landfills, which unfortunately are abundant in the area.
An area of over 2,000 square meters was seized in Sardara by the military of the local station, with the collaboration of colleagues from the NOE and the Guspini station.
The investigations involved the owner of a garage located in the city center, and were extended to an agricultural plot of approximately 2,400 square meters used by the suspect, who ran a car scrapyard on the plot without authorization and in contempt of all environmental regulations.
The land had been transformed into an uncontrolled dump for waste, including hazardous waste: scrap vehicles, tires, ferrous metals, and plastic components were piled up. Furthermore, the storage activity was conducted in the complete absence of an industrial wastewater management and purification system, operating on surfaces that were partially unsealed, exposing the subsoil to a concrete risk of pollution . Among the various vehicles was a car with its chassis number deliberately obscured.
The area was seized, and the entrepreneur was charged with abandoning and dumping waste, unauthorized disposal of end-of-life vehicles, illegal discharge of industrial wastewater, and counterfeiting or altering trademarks.
