Sardinia says no to wind power: it will challenge the energy decree signed by the government
The goal, writes the Region, is "to protect the rights of Sardinians and have a definitive and structural solution to the energy problem"The goal is "to protect the rights of Sardinians and to have a definitive and structural solution to the energy problem, such as to be able to guarantee a future suitable for the territory and the production system".
Thus in a note the Sardinia Region announced late yesterday evening that it will challenge the energy decree signed by the government on March 31 last year: "The appeal is being prepared - reads a note - and will be presented in the next few days".
The government provision identifies the works and infrastructures necessary to phase out the use of coal on the island and to decarbonise the industrial sectors of the region, according to the provisions of the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (Pniec). Among the works considered urgent, there is also the construction of a new generation capacity from renewable sources and adequate energy storage resources .
THE DISCUSSION - Yesterday there was a long session of the Sardinian Assembly dedicated to the discussion of a unitary agenda against the proliferation of requests for concessions (to date there are 13) for offshore wind farms in the Sardinian seas.
"The government cannot set aside loyal institutional collaboration, it cannot fail to comply with the principles enshrined in the Constitutional Charter and it cannot forget that energy is a competing matter", explains the regional councilor for industry Anita Pili in the note. "It is undeniable that Sardinia has been a protagonist on all occasions in which it was necessary to claim its autonomy, its rights and it has done so in a concrete way", added the regional councilor for environmental protection, Gianni Lampis .
The doubts about the role of the Region in the process of the Dpcm have convinced some to abstain from the unitary document against the blades, others to withdraw their signature, still others to exit at the time of the vote. Eventually, approval came but not unanimously .
The agenda commits the President of the Region to "undertake every possible initiative with the Government for a moratorium on the issue of concessions for the installation of wind farms for speculative purposes, to protect the sea as a recognized common good and identity of Sardinia, to update the regional energy plan and draw a map of the sources that takes into account the specific characteristics of the territories ".
