At the moment Italy "is not among the countries involved" , but "things can change". This was stated by Copasir president Adolfo Urso (Brothers of Italy) regarding the US intelligence dossier according to which Russia has given over 300 million euros to political parties and personalities of at least 24 foreign countries.

"I called a Copasir meeting on Friday because I am convinced that in two days we will have more information ", said Urso on the sidelines of a point with the Italian press in Washington, clarifying that the issue will "be investigated in the coming days with Franco Gabrielli ".

“In my meetings here in Washington I will urge my American interlocutors to give information to the Italian government as soon as possible,” added Urso, and then defended the leader of his party Giorgia Meloni.

“ Giorgia Meloni's perception in the United States is that of full reliability, especially with respect to support for Ukraine . Meloni achieves what he says, what he promises then maintains, consistency, reliability and the ability to express himself clearly and directly are qualities that Americans appreciate ".

Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio , commenting in Tagadà on La7 on the case and the words of the Copasir president, said that " the dossier may not be one ", remarking that Urso "makes a very cautious statement, there are no absolute statements certainty".

Pd secretary Enrico Letta asked for "absolute clarity" before the elections , "Italians must know if political parties in this country have been financed by a power, Russia, which today is against Europe and has invaded Europe" .

Matteo Salvini, on the other hand, denied any involvement : “The only ones who have taken money from Russia in the past are the Communists. I have never asked for or taken any money. They say names and surnames. Did the Democratic Party pay? If Russia has paid the Democratic Party it is right that we know. The only foreign country that in my political activity offered me a paid and expensed trip abroad was the United States. I didn't go there.
