Horror in the Brescia area.

A 49-year-old woman, Elena Casanova, was hammered to death in the middle of the street by her ex-boyfriend, the 59-year-old Ezio Galesi.

It happened in Castegnato, a town of 8 thousand inhabitants.

The victim's neighbors raised the alarm: "Call the police, I killed her with a hammer," Galesi told them in Brescia dialect.

On the spot the military arrived immediately and arrested the killer, who did not resist.

The couple had not been together for a year: he had never accepted the end of the story but she had started a new relationship. The 49-year-old, a worker at Iveco in the city and mother of a 17-year-old girl from her first marriage, died a few meters from her newly parked car.

The victim's house is one of the terraced houses that overlook some agricultural fields, in a not too bright area.

According to the reconstruction of the Carabinieri Galesi, separated and father of two already grown children, he followed his ex-girlfriend and when she parked he first broke the window of the car with a hammer and then repeatedly hit the woman, who died instantly.

The man remained in the weapon's car for a long time, staring into space. The victim's brother and ex-husband also arrived, both visibly in shock.
