A national moratorium to allow real energy planning that respects the environment and the territory. This is the goal of the petition "Yes to renewable energy, no to energy speculation!", promoted by the environmental association Gruppo d'Intervento Giuridico (Grig) which has already received more than 20,000 signatures . It will be sent in the next few days to the President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni and to the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, as well as to those of Culture (Alessandro Giuli) and Agriculture (Francesco Lollobrigida).

" What is happening today in Italy in the context of the energy transition is giving substance to the worst nightmares about the fate of forests, fields, meadows, and historic landscapes of our beautiful country ," says Grig. "The sacrosanct transition to the use of renewable energy sources (sun, wind, water) from traditional fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) in the absence of any serious planning and even simple common sense is favoring the worst energy speculation initiatives."

The association also recalls the numbers of the assault: «Throughout the national territory, the requests for connection of new plants presented to Terna as of August 31, 2024 total 5,999, equal to 342.10 GW of power. In Sardinia alone, 804 projects have been presented for 53.78 GW of power : almost 30 times the power of the plants currently existing on the island, seven times the 2030 target established at community level».
