A young man died and another was seriously injured following an accident on the A15 motorway junction in Pontetaro, in the province of Parma.

According to initial information, the two were on board a minibus intended for the transport of the disabled which ended up on the Bologna-Piacenza railway line and was hit by a passing train. With them also the driver of the vehicle and a woman, both injured.

The passengers of the train, a regional, were however unharmed.

Rail traffic has been suspended.

Rescuers, the Fire Brigade, the railway police and the technicians of the Italian Railway Network were on site.

According to what was reconstructed, the van was on a road adjacent to the railway: the driver would have lost control in a sharp bend, would have gone straight through two pylons and would have ended up on the rails of the conventional railway line.
