Kidnapped on the street, held for hours in a house, forced to endure repeated violence and finally thrown into a swimming pool, even though he couldn't swim, just for "fun".

This is the charge brought against two individuals who have been remanded in custody. The incidents allegedly occurred in Torre Annunziata, in the province of Naples, in August 2024. The prosecutor's office has charged the two with kidnapping and assault.

According to what officers from the Pompeii police station found, the two men allegedly picked up the disabled man on the street, forced him into their car, and then took him to one of the men's homes, taking away his house keys and cell phone, and holding him captive for approximately two hours.

To prevent him from screaming, they covered his mouth and put an arm around his neck. According to investigators' findings and reported in the precautionary order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata court at the request of the Oplonti prosecutor's office, the disabled man was repeatedly insulted at home with abusive language, thrown into the home's swimming pool, and forced to remain there despite not knowing how to swim. He was screaming and crying for help because he couldn't breathe. According to further investigation findings, the suspects allegedly injured the victim on various parts of his body. The man was then abandoned on a farm.

Investigations by Pompeii police officers confirmed not only the crimes of kidnapping and personal injury, but also the fact that the two individuals subject to the precautionary custody order "acted," the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office emphasized in a statement, "for vile and futile reasons, solely for pleasure, needlessly inflicting torture and cruelty on a disabled person and taking advantage of his limited abilities, which limited his ability to defend himself." One of the two suspects was served the precautionary custody order directly in prison, as he was already being held in the Poggioreale prison for another criminal proceeding.
