Andrea Crisanti sings victory, the famous microbiologist among the symbolic faces of the fight against Covid and also known in Sardinia for having contributed, in the hardest phases of the pandemic , to the massive screening campaign on citizens.

The weekly L'Espresso has in fact published an article in which it reveals that the prosecutor of Padua, Silvia Golin, has requested the dismissal of the investigation for defamation arising from the opinions expressed by Crisanti , who attacked the Region for the intensive use of tampons quick.

Now, however, the fee is targeted by the prosecutor: 27 thousand euros of public money paid by Azienda Zero , the body that governs the health of the Veneto Region, to an external lawyer to denounce Crisanti.

And therefore not only did the Public Prosecutor of Padua ask for the file to be archived but, ironically, it sent the documents to the Court of Auditors to assess the legal costs incurred by Azienda Zero, considering that "in the presentation of the complaint, finances appear to be used public ".

THE EVENT - As for the affair, on April 12 the prosecutor Silvia Golin asked the investigating judge to file , sending the documents to the Court of Auditors assuming a possible waste of public money, and the regional prosecutor Ugo Montella has already opened an investigation.

The filing was ordered because it was considered "inadmissible" , in the absence of a real lawsuit, and the prosecutor, however, enters into the merits by explaining that "it is evident that Crisanti has skills that allow him to develop well- founded opinions ", and consequently his statements they must be considered an " exercise of the right to criticize ".

From the Region now they explain that they never wanted to sue the microbiologist but that, in the face of criticism, they limited themselves to presenting to the prosecutor the documentation deemed useful to clarify.

According to Crisanti, however, it was an “ attempt at intimidation . The principal? I doubt that 27 thousand euros can be spent without informing the regional leaders ”.

MAXI PARCELLA - Now, therefore, in the sights of the magistrates, instead of the criticisms made by Professor Crisanti of the Region, the maxi fee paid by the Veneto health governance body to the lawyer Fabio Pinelli, the external professional in charge of preparing the exhibited then signed by the general manager of Azienda Zero, Roberto Toniolo.

For the prosecutor "it is not clear why, in the face of this need, it was not the legal office of Azienda Zero that presented the complaint (at no cost for the regional coffers) but an external professional".

The choice - it is argued on the basis of the initial declarations of the chief executive officer Toniolo - fell on the lawyer Fabio Pinelli who would have prepared the documentation as part of a larger assignment received from Azienda Zero and paid 27 thousand euros. Later Toniolo corrected the shot, explaining that in reality no mandate was given for the complaint against Crisanti. And for the prosecutor, that "contradiction" therefore deserves an investigation by the Court of Auditors.

For his part, Pinelli specifies that he has not "received any compensation" for reporting on Crisanti. According to the resolutions, those 27 thousand euros would instead be the compensation for a consultancy concerning procurement in the health sector.

An intricate skein, on which the Court of Auditors is called upon to clarify.
