He had an affair with his commander's wife, but the latter caught them red-handed.

For this a carabiniere received a disciplinary punishment in the Verona area, his conduct was deemed "disreputable and inappropriate".

The soldier was punished with one day of surrender and with the transfer "due to environmental incompatibility" to another office , also in the Verona area.

The facts, reports the local press, date back to June 2008, when the married woman began an extramarital affair with a sergeant. The latter, discovered by the woman's husband as well as her commander and by another colleague, underwent the disciplinary procedure.

The punishment was aimed at "stigmatizing a romantic relationship with a married woman who has not yet been legally separated". The proceeding was triggered by a note sent to the superiors by the betrayed commander: it read that the sergeant had been seen with the woman "sitting at a table in an ice cream shop, intent on consuming a drink flirting, oblivious to those present and while the younger daughters of the two were playing" .

Statements subsequently denied, when it emerged that the woman's younger daughters were actually on vacation.

For this reason, the story has returned to the headlines: in fact, the complaint for "ideological falsehood in public deed" was triggered against the two commanders who initiated the disciplinary measure, which resulted in both being sentenced to 3 years and 4 months of imprisonment, in first and second degree . For the "betrayed" commander, the sentence became final, because he renounced the appeal to the Cassation. The colleague, on the other hand, challenged the verdict and the sentence was canceled because in the meantime the statute of limitations of the crime had come.
