The young man, 16 years old at the time of the events, accused of the murder of Fallou Sall , the 16-year-old boy stabbed to death on 4 September 2024, in Via Piave in Bologna, after intervening in defence of a friend, a 17-year-old Bangladeshi who had had some disagreements with the accused, was sentenced to 11 years and 6 months.

The ruling was issued by a panel of judges chaired by Gabriella Tomai, President of the Juvenile Court of Bologna.

"Know that in Italy the sentence for murder is 10-11 years. Murder, not attempted murder. This is a good lesson for our children. Shame ." This is Fallou Sall's father.

The minor was also charged with the attempted murder of Fallou's friend, a crime downgraded to grievous bodily harm, and the illegal possession of a knife.

The prosecution had asked for a total sentence of 21 years.
