Yesterday, on the occasion of the commemoration of the deceased, the first mass was celebrated in the church of the Santissima Trinità in Potenza, in whose attic on 17 March 2010 the body of Elisa Claps, the 16-year-old student who disappeared in 1993, was found.

The Archbishop of Potenza, Monsignor Salvatore Ligorio, celebrated it. After the discovery of the body of Elisa Claps in 2010, the church, in the historic center of the Lucanian capital, remained under seizure until April 2012, and then closed until last summer for long renovation works. Since August 24th, the church has been open every day for a few hours for silent prayer. First mass yesterday.

Elisa Claps entered that church on the morning of 12 September 1993 and never came out again, she was killed in there by Danilo Restivo , who was arrested in 2006 in England for another murder, that of Heather Barnett. The priest of the time always opposed in-depth inspections inside the building, even the prosecutor did not arrange them despite the incessant requests of Elisa's family, convinced that the truth about the girl's fate was hidden in those four walls.

And today the Claps family returns to the attack: «We take note once again of the absolute lack of respect and arrogance of Bishop Ligorio who yesterday celebrated Mass in the church of the Trinity», we read in a message released by Gildo, the Elisa's brother who fought more than anyone to seek the truth.

«At a time when millions of people following the fiction (the last two episodes are scheduled on Rai 1 on Tuesday 7 November, ed.) have become aware of how irremediably that church is stained by the blood and lies that have been spread within those walls consummated, instead of silence, as Pope Francis had indicated, the Curia of Potenza once again chooses the removal of what happened. I address a prayer to those who come to listen to the religious services: stop and read the plaque that celebrates the virtues of Don Mimi Sabia and breathe deeply the hypocritical message that resonates in that church ."
