The body of the mother who had been dead for a year was found in the house: she was in bed under the covers

A woman from Bergamo kept the body of her elderly mother in her home for a year.

The discovery was made yesterday afternoon, when the local police and firefighters showed up at the apartment on Via De Gasperi, after the elderly woman's other son - who would have turned 101 in July 2024 - reported, from Genoa where he lives, that his sister had not responded to him for days.

In the apartment, in bed under the covers, as L'eco di Bergamo reported today, there was the body of the elderly mother in an advanced state of decomposition.

The forensic police then arrived on site to carry out investigations: the body will be subjected to an autopsy, but initial investigations suggest that what the daughter herself told the police is likely true, that is, that the death dates back to September of last year .

The woman, an Italian public employee, was subsequently admitted to the psychiatric ward. Her home and garage were subsequently seized by the Bergamo police headquarters.
