The 17-year-old boy accused of the murder of Giògiò, the 24-year-old musician Giavanbattista Cutolo killed last August 31, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison .

This is the sentence of the preliminary judge of the Juvenile Court of Naples Umberto Lucarelli, who accepted the request formulated by the prosecutor Francesco Regine: the maximum sentence, given the shortened procedure chosen by the young man, who confessed to the murder . The defendant's lawyer (according to whom he "deserved a less harsh sentence") had asked for his client to be put on probation, a request not accepted by the judge.

Giovanbattista Cutolo was shot dead at the height of an argument that broke out over a poorly parked scooter .

At this year's Sanremo Festival, his mother Daniela Maggio read a letter for her murdered son , who dreamed of one day joining the Festival orchestra. A very touching moment. «Can you die for a parking lot? Yet it happened", this is how Amadeus presented it , recalling that Giògiò "was a musician, his dream was to play here, in Sanremo, and if there hadn't been that cursed night I'm sure it would have come true".

«The public prosecutor - added Daniela Maggio - made a wonderful speech, because from the reconstruction of the cameras and all the testimonies of those who were present, it was seen that he pulled out the gun against Giogiò, who had nothing to do with it, and he shot. First two shots, then he chased Giogiò and fired the third fatal one, because he had a taste for killing ."

Tense moments after the sentence outside the Court, where relatives of the convicted 17-year-old shouted at friends and the family of the murdered boy . The tension lasted a few minutes. Some people linked to the convicted minor also made threatening gestures inviting Cutolo's relatives to join them . The young friends of the murdered boy sang a chorus calling for justice for Giogiò, and then the relatives of the condemned young man moved away.

« Twenty years, life imprisonment for minors. Thank you justice, we have written a page of history ", said Giògiò's mother. «The killer's father challenged my son's friends with the air of a criminal boss. How can you rehabilitate the son of such an individual? They don't intimidate me , they are boorish people who don't count for anything, anyone who knows what clans are and the Neapolitan system knows well that these people are disgusted even by the big bosses, because they are useless 'poor people'. The boy has been convicted and is undergoing rehabilitation, let's see how he gets out. If you don't clear your conscience then go out, commit crimes and kill again."
