The Court of Auditors rejects the Messina Strait Bridge for the second time.

This time, the accounting magistrates denied approval to the agreement between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the concessionaire company.

The reasons for the suspension will be made public within thirty days. However, the new developments in the project don't worry Minister Matteo Salvini: "No surprises, it's the effect of the first suspension of CIPESS. We'll clarify everything," said the Minister of Transport, declaring himself "confident and determined."

The opposition, however, is attacking. The Democratic Party (PD) believes this is a "Caporetto" for the government, and the group leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Chiara Braga, is calling for "the resources earmarked for the bridge to be diverted to useful projects."

The Five Star Movement, on the other hand, calls on the executive to "put an end to this farce" , while Angelo Bonelli (Avs) says he is ready to "denounce the government" because "the Meloni government is committing public funds within a framework deemed illegitimate, for a 14 billion euro project without any technical, environmental or legal certainty: resources taken away from railways, schools, healthcare and local safety".
