Investigations underway in the province of Messina after the death of a newborn baby who has just come to light.

From what has been learned, a 37-year-old woman, in the 27th week of gestation, yesterday, prey to the pains of labor, left Mistretta to reach the nearest hospital, in Patti, but, on the highway, at the height of Santo Stefano di Camastra, gave birth. The child, however, died soon after, despite having been rescued by an ambulance staff. Then the woman was transferred to the hospital.

The story has cast shadows on the health of Messina. To attack, Ella Bucalo, deputy of the Brothers of Italy: "Behind this death - says the exponent of Giorgia Meloni's party - there is all the hospital inefficiency that emerged following a blind health reform, decided by the central government , which establishes the cut of several birth points in Italian hospitals. That child died because the closest birth point was that of the Patti hospital: politics cut that of Mistretta, the Municipality where the pregnant woman lives, and that of Sant 'Agata Militello, not far from home instead that of Patti, towards which the parents of the unfortunate newborn necessarily had to go, is several kilometers away. And this happens because, in line with government decisions, Sicily too had to cut the birth points that registered less than 500 births a year ".
